BROADCAST #54 PROGRAMA 9
TITLE & NUMBER OF THE BROADCAST:
INDIE-RE #54 BY CIVIL RADIO, BUDAPEST, HUNGARY
SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT:
In the Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show, the two hosts Ákos Cserháti and Dániel Kemény will present a selection of the last few months’ releases. The show starts with rock music, followed by a short break into electronic and rap music, then psychedelic and jazz songs. The show will also feature an interview with one of Hungary’s most interesting electronic music bands.
Coming up next is the band «Earlybird», who released their next song a few days ago. The title of the song is «Kikapcsolnám» – which is English for «I would turn it off». Sad, but that’s about all we can say about the band. I did a lot of research to find out something about the guys, but all I found was a short band bio, which says: «Band bio is a thing of the last millennium, so no one really reads it.
We continue with a Budapest-based band playing self-described psychedelic swamp rock, and a track from their recently released album. The upcoming track «Bastards dream» is said by the members to be their most eclectic work ever. They said that they wrote the music during a 10-day retreat into nature, where they also had time to recreate the band’s visual identity. So here comes «SWAMP CREATURES», and their latest music is called «Bastards dream».
The next song is from the band called «Csaknekedkislány – Just for you, little girl «. The band members were influenced by many great musicians of the Beat era and the Hungarian underground bands of the eighties. So far they have released 5 albums in their 12-year career, the last one a few months ago. First we listen to «Házasság – Marriage» from this album, followed by «Hangosabban – Louder», one of the most influential songs of the Hungarian underground scene at the moment.
So this was Csaknekedkislány in the last few minutes, but let’s move on! In the continuation we present the band MAGIDOM here on the Hungarian edition of the Indiere radio show. The band takes its name from a geometrical concept in space, but we don’t want to go any deeper than that. The band experiments a lot with different sounds and concert spaces, for example they recently performed a two-act theatre piece in Budapest. In the next few minutes, we present their latest song, «Jól áll a sötét – dark suits you.»
We already talked about Azahriah’s musical career in the latest Hungarian edition of the Indiere Radio Show. However, the young musician has recently released a new song, which makes us bring him back a bit. It’s also important to talk about it because according to the news, Azahriah is about to start a European tour in the autumn with 8-10 shows. Now the follow-up is «Introverted Song» from him, which was released in February this year.
Next up in the next few minutes is a band who take their name from Margaret Island in the heart of Budapest. The island is mostly covered by landscape parks, and it’s a popular recreational area. We have similar good things to say about the band, which has been around since 2014 and by their own definition plays folk-rock and folk-pop. Their music often features elements of Hungarian folk music. Their next song has just been released, it’s called «Szeszélyes – whimsical», witch you can listen to in the next few minutes.
In the follow-up we present the band Analog Balaton. Aba and Ákos told us about the band:
«Actually, the whole band is the result of a reconnection, as we knew each other in high school and met at a camp on Balaton. Then we started playing music, but for a long time we only concentrated on live performances, then after a long time we decided to release our first album. The truth is that we don’t like to release music officially because we don’t like to finish it. We’re constantly tweaking and reworking our music, for example, we have a song that started out as a 3 minute version and now we play about 12 minute versions live. We think that half of our audience doesn’t listen to electronic music at all, they just like us for our lyrics, but there is another group of people who come to our concerts specifically for our danceable tracks. Our audience is very fragmented because of that, but we still find that both types are loyal and find their place at our shows.»
Next up is «Zserbó Gallop» from them, Analóg Balaton.
In the next few minutes we’ll also have a little taste of Hungarian jazz. Next up is a performer whose concerts have been described by critics as reminding us of France in the last century. Hungarian actor, singer and vocalist Micheller Myrtill released her latest composition «Amikor kiléptél az ajtón – When you stepped out of the door» a few days ago.

FEATURED SONG #54 CANCIÓN 9
TITLE:
INDR FEATURED SONG #54: Sezlony – Altató
TEXT FROM THE FEATURED SONG (SAME AS THE JINGLE TEXT):
Coming up, the featured song from Hungary. This is «Altató» by the band Sezlony, which means in English: lullaby
TEXT:
The song «Altató» is a track by the band «Sezlony». It was first heard on their album «Szívszakszervezet», released in March 2023. This is the band’s 5th album released in their 3 years of existence.
Sezlony is a six-piece dynamic formation that has been going strong for several years with minor changes. They regularly play concerts and develop their style. In addition to the basic line-up of guitar, drums and bass, three vocalists, conga, occasional electro-acoustic guitar and trumpet add colour to the sound. Their music combines the typical world of alt-rock with funky motifs, among others, but the main direction that forms the basis is alternative rock.
